NCEA Credits
The Play It Strange Secondary Schools Songwriting Programme is in its 7th year. The Songwriting Competition finds students forging their imagination and creativity into the unique construction such is a song. It has seemed of late that these songwriting activities deserve to be recognised in the framework of credits for NCEA. To that end, Mike Chunn, CEO of Play It Strange, met recently with Bali Haque, dep CEO of the NZ Qualifications Authority and their discussions were fruitful. In 2009 the NZQA and Play It Strange have signed a Memorandum of Understanding whereby students who take part in the Play It Strange Secondary School Songwriting Competition programmes are entitled to earn NCEA credits. Entries are eligible from;
The Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition, Peace Song Competition
Anthem In Black® and Christmas Duet Songwriting Competition
Your request to be assesses for NCEA at levels 1, 2 or 3 must be indicated on the competition entry form
and is only applicable where there is ONE composer on the song entered.
For more information go to www.nzqa.govt.nz Email mikechunn@playitstrange.co.nz if you would like to make any further enquiries in relation to the Play It Strange and NCEA credits.
