Competition has now been running for 5 years. We are continually surprised by the high standard of songwriting
we receive from secondary school students from throughout New Zealand.

On Thursday 23rd October 2008, 6pm the Play It Strange Awards took place at
The Centennial Theatre, Auckland Grammar School
, Auckland.
The Perry Award for Songwriting was presented for First Place
to Tom Holden from Rosmini College and the Top 5 songs were performed live.
It was a magic night!

THE AWARDS...
  • The Top 50 Songwriters receive certificates
  • The Top 40 songs are professionally recorded and go on the 2008 Play It Strange CD
  • The Top 40 also receive Retail Credit from NZ Rockshops
  • First Place receives The Perry Award trophy for Songwriting
